It appears that about 25% of them arrive with a problem. Looking at the reviews, it appears that quite a few of these are just the cable, a new one of which can be obtained easily enough for a couple of bucks at any RS type store, and not worth the bother of sending it back. Mine arrived perfect. The sound quality is quite good, though being half deaf, I might not be the best judge.
